I knew this day would come

I just hoped it would be in 20 more years. Miss C has decided she will choose what she wears. Or at least have a significant say in the matter. I should have seen the signs. More and more she will express like in an outfit or pair of shoes. A perfect example: I brought a pair of shoes home from Gymboree and when I pulled them out of the bag her emphatic response was, "Oh mama, I like these shoes." Seriously, Hubs was on the phone with me at the time and is my witness.

So we're putting on what we call 'bumming clothes' for a quick trip to Lowe's before bedtime. She and I never actually changed into clothes today because we only left the house once and that was to Walgreens pharmacy. However I couldn't justify pj's at Lowe's so I settle for a beach T and some yoga pants. I had a purple T with octopus. Unacceptable. She wants to wear teddy bears. I cringe. Teddy bears means the bumming shirt Grambee bought with a teddy bear carrying his suitcase threatening, "That's it, I'm going to Grandma's!" It's perfect for naptime after a morning at the pool, but not much else. I try reaching with purple octopus but she means business. Whatev.

It's not the shirt that was the most troubling. Though it was a poor fashion choice. It's the end of easiness. The beginning of negotiations over clothes. The further delay in me getting out the door and anywhere, ever.

I am so, so sorry. Miss D. is driving me nuts with this. She'll only wear dresses, and it is killing me that all her cute shorts outfts are hanging in her closet unloved. I managed to get one such outfit on her last week, and at 3 p.m. she realized she wasn't wearing a dress and freaked out. Drama...
